Bluetooth MAC addresses are SHA-256 hashed the instant we read them. Raw values are discarded. Only the hash is stored, locally on your phone, never synced. Disable anytime to clear it all.
Don't want Auto-Detect? Toggle it off in Settings. The app reverts to your default vehicle for every trip. Saved fingerprints are preserved — toggle back on later and everything resumes.
Your Bluetooth MAC address never leaves your phone. We compute a one-way SHA-256 hash the moment a device connects, then discard the raw value. The hash is a stable fingerprint — it tells your app "this is the same device I saw before" but reveals nothing about the original.
The fingerprint table is local to your phone. Not cloud-synced. Not sold. Not shared. Turn off Auto-Detect from Settings and the table clears.

No. If your car has Bluetooth — which means virtually any vehicle made since 2010 — Auto-Detect works. You just need to pair your phone to the stereo, which most drivers have already done.
No measurable impact. We hook into Android's existing Bluetooth connect/disconnect events. No continuous scanning, no extra background services. The receiver wakes briefly only when a device connects or disconnects.
