Key Point: Your mileage data stays on your device by default. We only access your data when you explicitly use backup features.
Information We Collect
Location Data
- GPS coordinates during active trip tracking
- Location data is used solely to calculate mileage and trip routes
- Location tracking only occurs when the app is actively recording a trip
Trip Information
- Start and end times of trips
- Distance traveled
- Trip purpose (business/personal) as designated by you
- Vehicle information you provide
Account Information
- Google account email (when you sign in for backup/sync features)
- Subscription status
How We Use Your Information
- Mileage Tracking: To calculate and record your trips
- Reports: To generate mileage reports and statistics
- Backup: To save your data to Google Drive (only when you enable this feature)

Data Storage
Local Storage: All trip data is stored locally on your device by default. This data is not transmitted to our servers.
Cloud Backup (Optional): If you enable Google Drive backup, your trip data is stored in your personal Google Drive account. We do not have access to your Google Drive.
Firebase: We use Google Firebase to manage user authentication and subscription status. Only your email address and subscription information is stored in Firebase.
Third-Party Services
TrakMiles uses the following third-party services:
- Google Play Services: For location services and in-app purchases
- Google Sign-In: For authentication
- Google Drive API: For backup functionality (optional)
- Google Firebase: For authentication and subscription management
- Google Maps: For displaying trip routes
These services have their own privacy policies that govern their use of your data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties except as described in this policy. Your trip data is never shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Data Retention
Trip data remains on your device until you delete it. If you uninstall the app, locally stored data is deleted. Backup data in your Google Drive remains until you delete it from Drive.
Firebase account data is retained while your account is active and deleted upon account deletion request.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your trip data through the app at any time
- Export your data using the export feature
- Delete individual trips or all data
- Request deletion of your Firebase account data
- Revoke Google Drive access through your Google account settings
Children's Privacy
TrakMiles is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information. Local data is stored in the app's private storage area. Cloud backups use Google's security infrastructure.
